Toyota ECM Replacement — With Supplied Tool
Use this guide when your Auto101 replacement ECM came with a Toyota tool and instructions for the 30-minute procedure. This procedure synchronizes the replacement ECM with your vehicle’s immobilizer system (ECU Communication ID Registration).
Before You Begin
Install the replacement ECM first. Follow the vehicle’s service instructions for battery disconnection and installation. Check that all ECM connectors are fully seated and locked, then reconnect battery power.
Have ready: The Toyota tool supplied with your order, your vehicle’s registered key, and a timer.
Allow: A full 30 minutes with ignition ON and engine OFF.
This guide applies to orders supplied with this tool for this procedure. If your vehicle uses push-button start or your order includes different instructions, contact us for the correct steps.
Battery & Connection
Start with a fully charged, healthy battery. Keep the tool connected and the ignition ON throughout the 30-minute cycle. Do not start the engine or disconnect battery power during the procedure.
30-Minute Synchronization Procedure
- With ignition OFF, plug the supplied Toyota tool firmly into the vehicle’s OBD2 port.
- Insert the vehicle’s registered key and turn it to ON/RUN (position 2), with the engine OFF. Do not crank.
- Set a timer for 30 minutes. Leave the ignition ON and the tool connected for the full cycle. Dashboard lights may flash while the tool is connected; flashing lights alone do not confirm completion.
- After the full 30 minutes, turn the ignition OFF, then unplug the tool.
- Start the engine and confirm it continues running normally.
Check the Result
Successful engine starting and continued running confirm the result. If the vehicle does not start, starts then stalls, or the procedure was interrupted, let us know—we’re happy to help.
